	Introduction :	Brazilian jockey L Duarte has won seven Championship titles in his home country, and four of the titles with 200 plus winners. Since he started his riding career he has amassed over 3000 winners in South America. When Duarte was very young he used to participate in Quarter Horse races (races run on a straight course over 400 metres). Duarte had his first full riding season in Macau in the 2006/2007 racing season and finished second on the Jockeys’ Premiership behind Durso with 79 wins.
